About the Opportunity

The Global Category Manager Solids Technology will lead a team of 3 professionals, consisting of 3 global category buyers while working very closely with a network of Global Category Managers in Procurement External Manufacturing CHC, Procurement CHC Domain Heads as well as colleagues around the world that are part of the standalone CHC GBU in industrial affairs, commercial, marketing/sales, finance, etc.

Procurement CHC External Manufacturing Organization supports the entire CHC standalone GBU, consisting of 6 Categories and 5 External manufacturing hubs in US, Latin America, Europe, and JPAC.

About growing with us

In this role you will….

  • Perform as the single point of contact for the Procurement Solids Technology perimeter at the executive level across all External Manufacturing IA CHC organizations
  • Create a competitive, agile and end-to-end, commercially integrated Procurement External Manufacturing Solids Technology organization across all GBUs
  • Create, deploy & supports the EM solids technology strategy for Procurement CMC EM and help it to evolve to Best in Class
  • Ensure efficient Procurement & IA site business connectivity
  • Lead and ensure proper execution of cultural transformation
  • Deliver Strat plan performance and contribute to enrich initiatives portfolio plan through negotiation with Procurement levers and Design to Value program, procurement development and improvement initiatives jointly with Business: life cycle management, COGS improvement initiatives, products launches/switches
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Finance, Supply Chain, Innovation, etc. as leaders of EM Leadership team
  • Help connect Business Development, Innovation, Manufacturing to ensure that there is established governance at key decision points to ensure that we are making sound commercial decisions that consider end-to-end impact, ROI, NPV, etc. to drive margin creation and ensure we develop a competitive FMCH portfolio that are accessible to patients
  • Develop and disseminate communication materials to ensure key business stakeholders understand the Procurement strategy and how it impacts their function / business
  • Ensure the appropriate mix of talented, trained resources to execute the strategy and support the management of procurement organizational structures and transformation plans
  • Support the global procurement training curriculum around strategic sourcing and strategy development and support the delivery of training on processes and policies
  • Contribute actively to Budget and Long-Range-Plan cycles providing the strategic alignment and link to operational projects and targets
  • Manage risk and compliance across Sanofi’s supply chain
  • Execute against Sanofi’s environmental and social objectives

A critical factor to be successful in this role is the ability to gain commitment from and align with External Manufacturing key stakeholders. These include business leaders (Consumer Healthcare LT, Procurement LT, Regional Heads) and functional leaders in Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Science Hub, Finance etc. at headquarters as well as the different regional organizations.

With the external manufacturing landscape in the industry evolving, the leader in this role will help shape the function, establish best practices, and drive best-in-class performance for the company worldwide critical to driving market share, margin and efficiency across Sanofi.

Strategy

Develop, implement & execute competitive and innovative Procurement Technology strategies on Solids

based on Procurement CHC EM market intelligence: assessing risks and opportunities:

  • Budget & Strategic Plan fully aligned with Business while delivering added value
  • Deliver world class total savings objectives
  • Contribute to the E2E make of buy strategy focusing on the Solids technology
  • Lead, manage and coordinate the overall collaboration, communication, and interactions with
  • Associated Procurement functions (“RemainCo”) and Business Partners (IA – Global Growth Hub - Global Science Hub – Finance – Supply Chain – BD&L)
  • Define, implement and monitor performance KPIs
  • Drive the development of new market opportunities (new suppliers, technologies, substitution products, etc.) aligned with the Procurement EM intelligence and category strategy
  • Integrate sustainability into projects and business decisions
  • Propose e2e procurement relevant strategy to support CHC brands growth and gross margin
  • Ensure Procurement technical excellence (TCO, SRM, Risk Management, CSR, HSE, compliance, quality…)

Contract & Relationship Management

  • Lead key and strategic negotiations
  • Ensure compliance with master service agreements and/or specific contracts in place
  • Ensure that terms and conditions of master service agreements and/or specific contracts, including the Quality Technical agreement (QTA) and sustainability requirements (BCorp) are met by all parties in the contract
  • Monitor the contract life cycle and proactively manage negotiation phases with involved operational teams (i) in the set-up of a contract or (ii) request of quotation (RFQ) related to a strategic supplier
  • Ensure that risk management assessment and mitigation strategies are in place aligned with the Business 
  • Set-Up and Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program for the key CMOs in the Solids Technology
  • Lead vendor innovation management

Business Collaboration & Partnering

  • Build and ensure collaborative Business Partnering across the Business Unit internally and across the Supplier/CMO network
  • Build and maintain strong interfaces and collaborations with other departments like finance, legal, regulatory, business development, licensing, and alliances & partnerships on top of main stakeholder management (Science HUB, IA, CSO, Growth Hub, Quality and Regulatory teams)

People Management

  • Set-up proper resources allocation and means according to technology category’s own objectives as well as business priorities
  • Manage global buyers and other resources under their responsibility, being located globally
  • Build and maintain a strong team governance and leadership
  • Execute talent development and performance improvement plans
  • Ensure procurement management excellence: category team management allocation, lead specifiers collaborative relationship, usage & leverage of procurement academy, talent management
  • Lead Lean and cash-flow programs (e.g. Agile Flow) for Procurement Direct domain

About you

Qualifications/ Education & work experience

  • 10 to 15 years of professional experience in Consumer Healthcare (FMCH) or Pharma
  • Solid understanding of both Procurement and Operations; a combination of functional experiences in External Manufacturing and SCM as well as Procurement would be ideal
  • Solid track record of achievements inclusive of people management experience, leading complex, diverse, globally based teams.
  • Strong negotiator
  • Experience in organizational development would be ideal
