The Mission of Sanofi’s MSL Team and the Field Medical Scientific Associate Director (FMSAD) is to be the trusted scientific partner in the field for external experts and decision-makers; engaging in mutual scientific exchange with Healthcare Professionals to accelerate data dissemination as well as provide product training support & leadership for a given product/work stream. Sanofi’s Field-Based Medical teams enhance the understanding of the scientific and medical value of our products in the therapeutic area and gather new insights by bringing cutting edge scientific exchange today that accelerates medical innovation tomorrow.
The FMSAD will also work as training lead for essential work teams/products in theRare Hematology spaceand assist in creating, implementing and delivering a standardized approach for New Hire Training and Continuous Learning for Field Medical Teams in order to positively impact the effectiveness and performance of the Field-Based Medical Team in the Northeast. This includes NY, CT, NH, NJ, MA.
The FMSAD role is 50% field facing (Northeast) whose main objectives are to:
Be the trusted scientific partner to influential external experts and decision-makers by conducting timely, appropriate and frequent scientific exchange meetings to enhance the understanding of the scientific and medical value of our products.
Develop robust stakeholder engagement plans to gather data, develop and share medical insights that contribute to enhancement of Sanofi’s key medical messages, plans and future research.
Exhibit a high degree of scientific and clinical knowledge in the therapeutic field to help identify and critically assess research opportunities and to play a supportive role in the execution of evidence generation plans to enhance the value of our products in a real-world setting.
Use innovative approaches to increase opportunities and create strategies to uncover insights that deepen our understanding of the needs of patients, consumers, regulators, payers, and healthcare providers and proactively identify unmet needs
Be a strategic partner who drives collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Marketing, etc.) while maintaining full compliance with relevant company, industry, legal and regulatory requirements
Demonstrate operational understanding and risk management by ensuring excellence in execution of all governance processes
Masterfully identify, profile, and prioritize stakeholders in line with the therapeutic area (TA) Medical plan while identifying opportunities to collaborate to address the HCPs therapeutic goals
Consistently re-evaluates the Stakeholder Engagement Model and utilizes superior understanding of the dynamics of the environment to anticipate changes in the MSL Team approach to Stakeholder Engagement
Effortlessly establish robust, long-term peer relationships with thought leaders and other stakeholder partners
The FMSAD role is 50% product training lead whose main objectives are to:
Be the strategic training partner for the product/work teams
Provide training for the MSL team and oversee the certification process for new products and MSLs
Work with MSL Leadership Team and product leads to identify training needs and implement plans to address needs
Develop and coordinate new hire Medical Science Liaison training and continuous learning for MSL team
Plan, coordinate, and implement all required training meetings (virtual, on-site/offsite)
Work with MSL Leadership Team to develop and implement coordinated annual training plan for RBD Field Medical that includes scientific training curriculum and professional skills development
Assist with needs analysis to determine key performance/skill and knowledge gaps for Field Medical and development and implement training programs based upon identified gaps
Coordinate with global scientific communications, Medical Directors and Field Medical as needed for training and materials
Work closely with field leadership providing/developing timely training solutions on Field Medical topics
Manage other training projects as assigned by the Field Medical Leadership
Identify and develop alternative training venues (e.g., podcasts, archived training options) to enhance flexibility and delivery of training offerings
Continuous refinement of the Field Medical training curriculum
Interface with Sanofi Field Medical Training counterparts to ensure alignment around field medical training processes, SOPs, and audit preparedness
Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred, or other relevant life sciences degree (RN/NP/MS) with Healthcare Specialty required
More than 5 years of experience in medical affairs
Minimum of 3 years MSL Experience
Proven leadership of project teams within MSL Team
Experience in MSL training with an understanding of the US Pharmaceutical/Healthcare Industry
Ability to effectively engage with diverse groups, KOLs, and internal partners
Ability to mentor and build strong relationships
Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning experience helpful
Project management experience
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated team player behavior
Comfort and experience presenting before groups
Demonstrated pharmaceutical industry knowledge
Excellent communication skills
