Job Description – North America Investor Relations Officer
The Investor Relations (IR) team takes responsibility for the communication between Sanofi and the international financial community, including direct interaction with financial analysts and portfolio managers. The IR team has the objective to communicate effectively and transparently to improve the markets’ understanding of Sanofi’s investment thesis and the company’s progress on executing on its ‘Play to Win’ strategy. To achieve this goal, the IR team uses multiple communication tools and messages to build confidence in the company and to help investors make informed investment decisions based on the company’s fair market value.
North American Investor Relations Officer
We are seeking an Investor Relations Officer (IRO) to join the North American Investor Relations Team who will serve as a spokesperson for Sanofi to educate the financial community on the company’s ‘Play to Win’ strategy with a focus on its growth objectives and R&D transformation. This IRO role requires persuasive verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships with the company’s external and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be comfortable in speaking about clinical data, pharmaceutical development programs and innovative medicines across various therapeutic areas and contextualizing the unmet need and commercial opportunity of various R&D projects. The IRO must have the ability to communicate effectively with the investment communities in the U.S., Canada and Europe. In addition, the candidate will have the stature to represent the company to a sophisticated audience of healthcare specialists and investment professionals. Internally, the IRO is expected to provide insight, feedback, and coaching to the Sanofi executive leadership team about investor perceptions and market expectations. This role will report to the Head of North America and Asia Investor Relations and will work closely with the Global Head of Investor Relations in Paris as well as other members of the IR team based in New Jersey, Massachusetts and France.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Advise the Global Head of IR and company executives on the perceptions of the Sanofi equity story by considering the attitudes of investors, equity research analysts and financial regulators
Interact with institutional investors and equity research analysts
Actively drive the market’s appreciation of the R&D pipeline and improve investors’ understanding of the value of Sanofi’s potentially transformative medicines in clinical development
Assist the financial community in understanding the company’s investment thesis, its opportunities and risks in order to fairly value the company’s fundamental progress
Represent Sanofi externally at investor conferences and road shows and work as a point-of-contact for the international financial community
Help to manage the overall investor mix, maintain existing relationships, and attract and retain new investors
Develop IR reporting materials, including compelling company presentations on its strategy and contribute to quarterly earnings documents
Build strong knowledge of the businesses across the Sanofi organization, including Specialty Care, Vaccines, General Medicines and Consumer Healthcare
Maintain an active and productive network within the company to constantly grow the understanding of the business and to collect and disseminate key information
Acquire strong company and sector expertise. Continually gather, monitor, and report on marketplace intelligence based on analyst reports and stock holding trends; communicate critical points to senior management
Strive to improve the Investor Relations function; ensure best in class practices are in place
In conjunction with the CFO and other finance leaders, participate in Sanofi’s financial reporting activities, including the annual report, quarterly statements and other shareholder materials
The IR Officer will lead projects such as standalone IR events, financial press releases, and act as an internal IR representative in M&A and business development activities. This is a high performance and fast-paced team. The ability to get up to speed quickly, be productive and deliver is critical as well as rewarding in this environment.
Bachelor’s degree required; PhD, MBA, or other scientific/medical degree is a plus
Scientific acumen and experience in research and development can be an advantage
Experience in finance with solid understanding of business strategy or science/medical expertise with broad background in development or marketing is helpful
Understanding of the buy-side and sell-side research business model, M&A, financial modeling
Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly and concisely, with high emotional intelligence
Highly organized, and process oriented with exceptional attention to detail and follow through
Absolute highest ethical standards and personal integrity
Effective leader, capable of working in teams
Fluent in English, French a plus
