The Organizational Consultant acts as a consultant to the business, as part of a flexible consulting pool under the Organizational Capability & Consulting team.
This role can be based in any of the Sanofi Hubs given its global nature. It does require the ability to connect across global time zones and travel.
The Organizational Consultant is a member of Sanofi’s Organizational Consulting Team. This team will form a flexible pool of internal organizational consultants, who can be deployed against the biggest priority organizational opportunities. These priority projects will largely be defined by the Head of Transformation (who stewards the portfolio of priority enterprise change initiatives), and further through prioritization of OC&T Partners demand. Consulting projects may range from facilitating the design of Target Operating Models, Organizational Designs, Strategic Workforce Plans through their implementation – managing Change Journeys, elevating Organizational & Team Effectiveness, Post-merger Integration.
The Head of OC&C will ensure consistency and clarity on the deployment and methodologies of internal and external consulting partners.
The Organizational Consultant should be comfortable supporting the shaping and execution of complex organizational consulting engagements end-to-end, in partnership with senior executives in the business (up to ExCom level) and HR / OC&T.
The consulting pool will be supported by an OC&C COE lead, who will be responsible for defining best-practice Organizational Consulting practices, methodologies, and toolkits. This will ensure excellence in the practice of Organizational Consulting, by creating fit-for-purpose, consistent and repeatable approaches to the work – both within the OC&T team as well as the broader HR and business communities.
This position is scheduled to be based in Bridgewater, NJ or Cambridge, MA. We are also open to considering locations across Gentilly; Lyon and La Boetie, France.
Experience & Knowledge:
The successful candidate will have experience leading projects with a focus on optimizing organizational capability, transformation and change management.
This experience may have been gained in either an internal or external consulting role, or a line role with exposure to transformation and organizational change.
The scope of these projects will have been organizationally complex within one or cross multiple functions, business units and/or regions, and potentially external partners (or M&A activity). Sponsors of the project should at least be at an equivalent of ExCom-1 level for projects that you have led, or ExCom where you were part of a broader engagement team.
The candidate will bring broad knowledge in the following:
Project & Program Management acumen for large projects, or leading a key workstream in enterprise programs, including:
Project/Program scoping & activation
Establishing appropriate project governance and organization
Project phasing & planning
Identifying success measures, and establishing KPI dashboards to track, report and address ongoing engagement/project health
Risk & Issue Management
Experience and a solid foundation in several of the following areas of organizational consulting:
Target Operating Model design (e.g. Galbraith STAR model, McKinsey 7S)
Strategic Workforce Planning
Change Management & Change Journeys, employing change comms, training etc.
Culture Change Journeys
Organizational & Team Effectiveness
A quick study, able to intellectually onboard at speed to new functional, business or country environments, understanding new strategies, business models, value chains.
Able to identify and build strong, healthy, and positive relationships with internal clients and stakeholders. Establishes credibility quickly, through both IQ and EQ.
Balances appreciative inquiry with constructive advocacy and challenge.
Works well as part of a consulting team, either in a lead capacity on medium sized engagements, or leading a key workstream in large enterprise engagements
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree is required
Advanced Degree in Organizational Design or a closely related field is preferred
Selected candidate will possess strong foundational experience across Organization Design; Target Operating Models; Strategic Workforce Planning; Change Management and post-merger integration
A minimum of 8 years of professional business experience across a Consulting or Business setting, specific to Organizational Consulting is required
You will possess a consultative approach and one that is able to assesses the business from a Macro level, honing and assessing key specific business priorities
Current or previous experience within a global setting is preferred
This position may require up to 40% overall travel
