Senior Director, Marketing - Vaccines

This role focuses on listening to customers and translating insights into strategies that can help to maximize the performance of the Vaxelis Organization. This role will require the skills to develop relationships with internal & external stakeholders, create marketing strategies, and lead a team. The ideal candidate will have a combination of marketing experiene and extensive knowledge of the vaccine market. This role will have a blend of in-office work as well as some travel to a partner organization. Qualified candidates will be able to interpret and translate potential customer feedback in combination with analytical insights into product strategy & tactics.  An imperative component of this role will be the ability to maintain positive working relationships across direct reports, customers, other key stakeholders to this project.

Key Roles also Include:

PRODUCT GROUP MANAGEMENT:

Objective:  To create and build the value of assigned product lines through the designated Product Managers.

  • Provide direction in assessing market trends by seeking short- and long - term opportunities in unserved, poorly served or emerging market segments. 

  • Guide development of rationale and decisions on pricing, packaging, promotion, market research, regulatory, and other issues which impact product marketing responsibility.

  • Recognize competitive opportunities and strategically position the improvement of the product lines toward meeting identified competitive differentiation.

  • Identify and assess methods of creating new opportunities via market niches, technology, innovations, and outside product acquisitions.

  • Routinely expand relationships with key opinion leaders and customers to uncover opportunities, which enhance product line performance and maximize product line earnings

  • Provide guidance on alternative product, price, promotion and distribution strategies for approval.

  • Direct the preparation and implementation of marketing tactical plans, which positively influence the accomplishment of the marketing plan.

  • Develop budgets in proportion to their impact on revenues in order to achieve the greatest profit contribution.

BUSINESS PERFORMANCE:

Objective:  To maximize dose and dollar sales volume of assigned product lines in a manner consistent with profit goals.

  • Develop realistic and achievable annual and trimester strategic marketing objectives in conjunction with the company's Sales and Marketing senior management.

  • Develop, plan and champion implementation of assigned product lines sales expansion.

  • Achieve annual gross sales and profit targets as planned.

  • Use information systems and reports to monitor and direct the progress of sales and profits toward monthly, trimester and annual sales objectives.

  • Allocate product line budgets in proportion to impact on revenues in order to achieve the greatest profit contribution.

LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT:

Objective:  To provide the leadership and development necessary to achieve sales and profit objectives of assigned product lines.

  • Lead and insure that the Product Managers are effectively managed, trained and developed in their current position.

  • Establish a succession plan for the Product Managers and manage the performance of the personnel within the plan.

  • Build and lead the Product Managers toward product line objectives.

  • When appropriate, assist the Product Managers in training and developing the product knowledge, product competitive differentiation and skills of the sales organization.

  • Develop teamwork among the Product Managers and other functional areas.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Required: BS in Business Administration or life sciences

  • Preferred: MBA or Masters

Experience:

  • Required: 8-10 years of vaccine or pharmaceutical experience 

Preferred:

  • Marketing, product launch, policy, or market access experience.

  • Team leadership (people management) experience.

  • Demonstrated project management experience, cross functional management, ability to thinking strategically and prioritize critical tasks to ensure effective execution of objectives.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with multiple different stakeholders groups.
