A2R STATUTORY LEAD ACCOUNTANT

About the job

Main responsibilities

  • Responsible for the registration of all financial transactions and for filing required or necessary documents which result in financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external monitoring bodies
  • Advises management and produces financial reports based on accounting information
  • Coordinates operational activities with A2R team of Captive Sub-Process teams in Budapest (Hungary)
  • Analyses financial data and accounts in order to prepare reports e.g. balance sheet, profit and loss statements etc

General

Monitors and verifies the registration of financial transactions (GL and sub GL administration)

  • Executes balance sheet activities
  • Post transactions
  • Responsible for correct allocations to departments and to products
  • Prepares and provides input for the Annual Account
  • Recommends actions based on the analysis of account data
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
  • Responsible for assigned month end activities
  • Supports overall Financial reporting and reconciliation activities (monthly, quarterly and annually)
  • Alongside team, is responsible for financial filing activities
  • Supports Treasury with the netting cycle

Taxation, Central Bank

  • Responsible for compliance with tax legislation and other legal obligations, including for annual overseas VAT declarations
  • Contact person for internal and external stakeholders on a range of tax matters
  • Is an expert and adviser to the business on VAT matters (local, regional and global)
  • Responsible for and oversees the Accounting flows linked to product flows
  • Directs the return of tax forms (VAT, corporate tax)
  • Responsible for VAT declarations for various countries within and beyond the region

Internal control & compliance

  • Maintains and applies accounting controls to assess and ensure that financial transactions, accounting records and financial statements are accurate, complete and adhere to relevant internal and external processes and controls
  • Undertakes self-testing activities based on relevant internal and external controls and regulations

Projects & Support

  • Actively participates in ad hoc projects, changes and improvements
  • Is responsible for resolving Accountancy issues
  • Supports colleagues with more complex issues
  • Provides training for new employees
  • Coaches and may supervise the work of junior colleagues

Main stakeholders and contacts

  • Is a key contact and adviser to the business on (complex) local, regional and global VAT matters
  • Works closely with and supports the Captive sub-process teams, Tax, Treasury and Controllers and other departmental colleagues during month closing
  • Is in frequent contact with colleagues in other financial departments across the region

About you

  • Analytical skills and attention to detail, whilst able to maintain a broad overview
  • Ability to work, handle multiple projects and prioritize in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and take on complex new tasks in a proactive and pragmatic manner
  • Hands-on mentality and result driven
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a similar subject

Work experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a multinational company within a highly competitive and quality focused environment
  • Excellent accounting knowledge
  • Knowledge of financial operations and structures principles
  • Excellent knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting
  • Knowledge of IFRS and SOX/ Internal Controls
  • Knowledge of payroll
  • Knowledge of SAP, Magnitude, (or a similar system) is a prerequisite
