Within Sanofi, the Procurement function is a powerhouse maximizing savings to fund the company’s future growth. The Chief Procurement Officer is reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, member of the sanofi executive committee. The Procurement organization is divided into five Domains (Manufacturing & Supply, Marketing & Sales, Professional Services, Scientific & Medical and Digital) leveraging Global Procurement Operations and the Procurement Center of Excellence & Transformation.  The yearly spend coverage is around 15B€ with a special focus on Procurement excellence, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability. Closely collaborating with Finance, Business Operations and Business Units, Procurement is instrumental in achieving cost efficiency and savings. Procurement plays a critical role in optimizing Business Operational Impact with a focus on driving simplification, efficiency, and productivity. It forges strategic partnerships with suppliers, prioritizing innovation and data driven solutions.

The Global Lead Buyer Elastomers, Tubular glass and Caps reports to the Global Category Manager Packaging and is responsible for a 215 M€ spend sub-categorie, for driving category strategies building & execution, supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing implementation and operational execution. Under the leadership of the Global Category Manager or the Global Business Partners, he/she defines the proper senior business connectivity and strategic supplier governance to execute procurement strategies improving timeline, cost, quality and sustainability. He is accountable for optimizing total-cost-of-ownership, marging and deliver best in class savings target year over year. The scope of this position is global and for all entities of Sanofi Group 

Main responsibilities:

Strategy & Governance 

  • Build & execute competitive and innovative sub-categories strategies: based on market intelligence, assessing risks and opportunities, fully aligned on budget & LRPs, delivering value to the businesses, actively engaging key stakeholders and lead specifiers from the businesses, 
  • Deliver year over years world class total savings objectives  
  • Ensure mastery of Procurement technical excellence (Total Cost of Ownership, Supplier Relationship Management, Market Intel, Risk Management, Innovation, CSR, HSE, compliance, quality…), 
  • Develop global supplier market expertise. 
  • Anticipate and consolidates all business needs to carry out worldwide negotiations on specific sub-categories for a global strategic sourcing strategy, with regional implementation plans  
  • Manage Global Business Reviews & Performance with identified key suppliers 

Operations Management

  • For the subcategories in scope, lead RFx processes, negotiations, and support contract development with global suppliers 
  • Design and execute competitive bidding process for global sub-category projects to obtain the best overall value-added solutions from candidate suppliers 
  • Build a solid roadmap for all sub-categories, including project and savings pipeline during budget cycle and maintain it throughout the year 
  • Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Internal Control and Finance teams towards successful completion of complex global scale negotiations 
  • Ensure the operational sourcing & action plan follow up for his/her procurement sub-categories (compose of different spend families) fully aligned with category management strategy/orientation 
  • Drive the development of new market/innovation opportunities (new suppliers, technologies, substitution products, etc.)   
  • Drive the suppliers’ negotiations: globalization & harmonization programs, as well as any major supplier issues to ensure business continuity and assurance of supply 
  • Establish risk mitigation plans in collaboration with Global Procurement Transformation & Excellence teams whenever necessary underpinned by the suppliers' assessment / scorecards results   
  • Build & Share to key stakeholders and relevant procurement teams: market trends, benchmark against industries, budget assumptions and LRP  
  • Drive the development of new market opportunities (new suppliers, technologies, substitution products, etc.) 
  • Work closely with procurement services to leverage as much as possible the middle and back-offices services 
  • Support “pre/post-audit” management, Crisis management 

Stakeholder Management

  • Lead Stakeholders management to ensure business needs are properly and timely met  
  • Engage upfront main Business Partners of Global Business Units and Support Functions 
  • Ensure proper Business Partnering at corporate level, with global functions as well as global Business Units, as it pertains to their respective sub-categories, ensure adequate lead specifier profile for the sub-categories  
  • Leverage Country Procurement Heads to ensure procurement strategies are applicable at local level 

About you

Experience

10+ years' experience in Procurement or related field

Soft Skills/ Technical skills:

The position requires sourcing professional skills with a strong ability to develop relationships within and across the different lines of business and throughout the Procurement organization, including transversal / project management skills in a multi-cultural environment:

  • Technical knowledge of the sub-categories/domain, Mastering Negotiation technics 
  • Strategic thinking 
  • Results oriented  
  • Good understanding of business, operations, and legal aspects including service level agreements, KPIs’ 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, flexible, receptive, resourceful, creative, and results oriented

  • Confident and capable in interacting with key stakeholders and vendors

  • Ability to work in a complex multi-functional matrix organization across functions, countries and cultures 
  • Strategic and innovative approach for business solutions while in compliance with external and internal policies 
  • Transversal Management skills are required for this position. 
  • High sense of Ethics, Business integrity and compliance in doing business 

Education 

Minimum Master degree from an accredited College or University

Languages

   Fluent in English is a must
