Role Summary

The Digital Governance Lead for Portfolio Management is accountable for ensuring the Portfolio Operations function enables effective and timely Digital portfolio insight generation and strategic and operational decision making.


The Lead oversees development and continuous improvement of portfolio management processes, tools, and best practices (collectively, “Portfolio Management platform”) which provide visibility into Digital programs and projects. Such visibility includes overall status, performance, organizational and stakeholder value (quantitative and qualitative), and organizational and project-based risks.

Given the platform’s critical role providing transversal visibility and governance inputs, the lead collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging agile methodologies to deliver a flexible platform for assessing, monitoring, and prioritizing the Digital portfolio.

Key Activities

  • Manage and communicate a portfolio management platform vision and roadmap, and standards for effective use

  • Enable Digital leadership to make informed decisions based on strategy, insights and performance of portfolio delivery

  • Partner with the Governance Manager to ensure effective governance based on timely, relevant and consistent data

  • Liaise with Digital Governance Leads regularly to power a constant feedback loop to optimize portfolio management standards and practices

  • Relentlessly drive prioritization of platform (i.e., process and tool) enhancements, based on user feedback and technical feasibility, to deliver a unified and actionable view of the Digital portfolio (within individual Towers and transversally)

  • Work closely with applicable service managers, center(s) of expertise and other operational counterparts internally and externally to deliver portfolio management solutions

  • Drive clear and simple communication about the portfolio management platform and best practices

  • Define KPIs and value proposition of the portfolio management platform

  • Accountable for the quality of portfolio analytics & insights and align with relevant Global balanced scorecards across Digital and business areas

  • Continuously explore and identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency in partnership with digital portfolio stakeholders

  • Demo and represent the platform, including to senior leaders who are consumers of platform outputs


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or liberal arts

  • 8-10 years of professional experience, including any of the following: 3-5 years of product management or process innovation, 3-5 years of management consulting, 8-10 years of project and portfolio management

  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work seamlessly with a variety of personalities, functional disciplines, and levels of seniority, including the Digital Senior Leadership Team; excellent communicator in written and verbal form

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with fluency switching between drilling down into detailed metrics, synthesizing across disparate data sources and designing / presenting high-level executive dashboards

  • Strong influencing skills along with the following key qualities: Committed team player, willing to take accountability for results; strong communication and team management skills; a good track record of achievement in their career to date and with a proven ability to deliver even during times of ambiguity

  • Ability to embrace complex, technical challenges and drive effective change management

  • Ability to effect change both through flexing processes and tools as individual levers, optimizing based on feasibility and efficiency

  • The ability to listen sensitively to the views of others, relentlessly seeking user feedback and contextualizing given business strategy

  • Comfortable working in a highly matrixed organization, managing through influence rather than direct reporting lines

  • MBA a plus

  • Certified product owner, Scrum master or PMP a plus
