Director, Monitoring & Investigations, NA Ethics & Business Integrity

Description:

This position supports both the Monitoring and Investigations functions within the North America Ethics & Business Integrity Department and will report to the Head of Monitoring & Compliance Investigations, NA Ethics & Business Integrity.  This role will be responsible for working with all levels of the Ethics & Business Integrity Department and cross-functionally to ensure the maintenance of an effective Compliance program, including evaluating areas of risk and providing guidance in the design and development of corrective and preventive controls.  This role exercises independent judgment in assessing compliance-related matters and supporting the business as needed.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document Internal Investigations relating to potential violations of Company compliance policies/SOPs and/or Federal Health Care fraud and abuse laws
  • Coordinate with other functional areas as necessary to conduct, track and/or document investigations (e.g., HR, Legal, Finance, Security, etc.)
  • Interface with Ethics & Business Integrity colleagues with regard to receipt of potential violations and appropriate follow up documentation, including Helpline administration
  • Assist with the review of potential Reportable Events
  • Identify, recommend, and initiate training activities with other internal functions as it relates to the conduct of Internal Investigations
  • Identify and present appropriate recommendations for enhancements to internal policies and SOPs relating to actual or potential issues identified during the conduct of Internal Investigations
  • Administration of SOPs, templates, and standards relating to the conduct and documentation of Internal Investigations
  • Assist with ongoing Commercial and/or Medical monitoring activities, including continued enhancements to Compliance monitoring strategies and activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Compliance Policy updates
  • Coordinate with Internal Controls and Internal Audit functions regarding applicable controls, internal reviews, and remedial action
  • Support Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA) compliance and certification process
  • Present at NA Ethics & Business Integrity meetings and other meetings as appropriate
  • Manage and support Monitoring activities and lead related projects and initiatives
  • Represent NA Ethics & Business Integrity Department on select functional committees and project teams
  • Demonstrate Sanofi US values and commitment to Compliance on a consistent basis
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; other relevant advanced degrees (i.e., JD) a plus
  • 8-10+ years relevant experience, with background in Compliance and/or pharmaceutical/healthcare industry preferred
  • Experience in managing and conducting internal investigations
  • Experience with risk assessment and risk management
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong project management, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, exercise independent judgment and work effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Highest standards of ethics and integrity
  • Some travel required
