Global Medical Director, Hemophilia Alignment Lead

The Global Medical Director Hemophilia Alignment Lead will play a key leadership role within the Hemophilia Franchise at an exciting time in the portfolio management and life cycle management for the assets included, supporting current licensed and launch molecules. He/she will support the team of global medical directors who are responsible for supporting the countries, ensuring alignment and pull through in medical strategy from global to local, leading MSL training activities, driving Digital innovation initiatives, and building on synergies with the overall Global Medical hemophilia strategy. Through alignment with the global medical directors, this new leader will provide strategic leadership and oversight for select Medical Affairs projects and activities within the Hemophilia Franchise.

The position requires excellence in strategic thinking, planning and operational execution, outstanding interpersonal skills to aid working in a Global Medical and cross functional team, and collaborating closely with an Alliance Partner. A strong commitment to achieve corporate objectives while maintaining the highest ethical, regulatory, and scientific standards is required

The role is based in Cambridge, MA (USA). It involves up to 20% of travel and reports to the Hemophilia (TA) Medical Head.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works in close partnership with the Medical Directors to contribute to the strategy and execution of the Global Medical Plan for each asset

  • Executes and helps evolve programs and tactics as a liaison between the global medical hemophilia team and external field experts; he/she will support medical directors in managing programs in an innovative, digital, and effective way

  • Partners with medical teams globally, scientific communications, HEVA, clinical development, and commercial to share critical insights gained from advisory boards and help ensure pull-through into strategic and tactical plans while monitoring the execution of related action steps

  • Assists with the monitoring, quality assurance, and reporting of project deliverables and presents those findings to key business stakeholders and internal leadership

  • Adheres to strict compliances and liaises with Compliance and Quality to reinforce governance and assists/trains as appropriate internal stakeholders

  • Supports sharing of best practices between priority countries and others

  • Leads the training efforts for MSL and cross-functional teams in alignment with the Global Hemophilia Medical Leads, and partners closely with the scientific communication team

  • Drives our digital innovation initiatives/tactics

  • Ensures a patient-centric approach to execute projects under his/her accountability  

Qualifications:

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent scientific degree

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in industry Medical or R&D

  • Suitable prior experience in a medical role; experience within hemophilia field would be advantageous

  • Solid track record of achievement in Medical Affairs in the biotech/pharma industry

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills

  • Leadership skills: Personal style that includes a sense of urgency, as well as flexibility and ability to respond to rapidly changing environments and circumstances

  • Collaborative and proactive, with a hands-on, roll-up-the sleeves style and attitude

  • Results-oriented, can embrace a fast-paced “can do” culture

  • Able to operate in a matrix team-oriented structure

  • Experience working in an international multi-country setting is definite a plus

  • Prior experience working in an Alliance with external partner(s) is a plus
