Global Oncology Market Access Lead - Early Assets (Hybrid)

Sanofi has a diverse and fast-growing pipeline in Oncology. The primary purpose of the role is to lead and execute Global Market Access and Pricing assessment and strategy, plans and tactics for a number of key assets in early development through best-in-class methodologies. The incumbent is responsible for providing market access input to support clinical development plans and trial designs, broader payer data generation efforts as well as opportunity assessment from a market access standpoint and initial payer / value / pricing positioning in alignment with the Global Project Team and New Product Planning in order to support key development decision making. 

In addition, the incumbent will co-lead the Sanofi’s EU HTA Task Force and represent Sanofi’s strategic voice externally on EU HTA regulation.  The objective of the task force is to position Sanofi as an industry leader in the HTA implementation of EU HTA policies in support of our future launches while mobilizing internal functions across organization to maximize support and preparedness of this new process ​.  This is a highly collaborative role which will coordinate the relevant cross-functional sub-team and that must work cohesively with all relevant stakeholders within Market Access (HEVA Leads, GMAX CoE, country MAx leads etc) and beyond (NPP, Clinical, Medical, Biostats, Public Affairs and Policy etc…) to build successful access and pricing plan and strategy strategies and tools in order to realize the full pricing and access potential of Sanofi oncology pipeline. 


Lead market access strategic assessments of early assets and input to cross-functional teams (NPP, Clinical, medical, DRA etc) in shaping early asset development strategy and navigating key internal development decision points

  • Critically analyze key market access success factors including global market access environment, competitive landscape, and policy changes to understand the implications for Sanofi pipeline 

  • Provide market access input into evidence generation strategy to ensure incorporation of critical market access success factors in pivotal clinical program and integrated evidence generation planning

  • Liaise with key countries to ensure alignment and timely input into the GPT activities

  • Support the teams preparing for key governance meetings such as TARC, DWG and IDCC

  • Working with New Product Planning, provide early strategic access and pricing guidance in early commercial planning and business development

  • Provide market access recommendation on indication sequencing and optimization, disease area strategy and strategic partnerships

  • Provide market access guidance on sequencing and optimization selection from alternate development options

  • Advise GPT on options for early payer engagements with in-depth assessments of opportunities and risks and recommendations

Develop and execute market access strategic plan/tactics to synthesize payer insights and evaluate payer needs for early assets.  Key activities including and not limited to

  • Synthesize key knowledge on the target disease, treatment algorithm, target population and unmet need

  • Identify early market access success factors / risks

  • Develop payer value proposition

  • Payer insight generation through primary research/interviews/ad board/secondary research

  • Early price/access assumptions for forecasting and scenario development

  • Collaborate with HEVE to identify evidence gaps and develop payer evidence generation plan and IEGP

As the co-Lead Sanofi EU HTA Task Force

1) overall program coordination ensuring navigation between internal and external priorities:

  • Representation of Task Force in Steering Committee and alignment of objectives and tactics

  • Give strategic direction to the internal task force, push the agendas, and ensuring cross-workstream coordination & excellence in execution

  • Communication to and alignment of all internal stakeholder vial different channels

  • Continuously collecting key information via EFPIA, EUnetHTA, HAG, press, conferences and other sources and share relevant information with key groups

  • Monitoring and sharing key learnings from Sanofi pilots on JSC and JCA

  • Adjusting Task Force objectives and tactics over time as needed

2) Internal operational readiness across organization (Workstream 1 – co-lead)

  • Identifychallenges and opportunities​ of EU HTA regulation for Sanofi

  • Assess impact for Sanofi's pipeline

  • Mobilize respective functions and BU’s and prepare for Sanofi operationalization  

3) Shaping external environment in close collaboration with Workstream 2

Represent Sanofi’s strategic voice on EU HTA regulation with external stakeholders, including HTA bodies and policy organizations and industry associations (EFPIA HTA Working Group tbc):

  • External influence via EFPIA

  • Active participation in EFPIA WS 1 (tbc)

  • External influence via European Access Academy (EAA) (Sanofi sponsored)

    • Sanofi representation and program coordination in EAA Decision board

    • Active participation in EAA convention (2/year) if continued beyond 2022



  • New Product Planning, Clinical, Medical, DRA and broader Global Product Team members

  • Market Access Partners: GBU/Franchise Market Access Teams (Market Access & Pricing Leads, HEVA), Global Market access Center of Excellence, Key Country MAx Teams

  • Corporate Affairs/Public Affairs & Policy


  • National and European trade associations, EUnetHTA 21, EAA



  • Graduate education in market access, health economics, health policy, healthcare financing, public health or similar is required. Professional training in health care (MD, PharmD, etc.) is a plus.


  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in healthcare, preferably pharmaceutical industry or related industries such as consultancies specializing in market access with meaningful experience in global market access required

  • In-depth knowledge of reimbursement and pricing systems of key markets required.  Experience in developing and executing market access & pricing strategies both at the global and the local levels (preferably US, DE, FR, or UK) strongly preferred.

  • Oncology experience strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with EU policies, especially with EU HTA  

  • In-depth understanding of drug development process required


  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with a diverse group of leaders across within a matrix organization; demonstrated ability to influence and lead without direct reporting

  • Learning agility and intellectual curiosity to understand the fast-evolving oncology landscape; ability to simplify complex issues

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, demonstrated ability to successfully drive a project to completion with positive results

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and executive presence
