We areseeking a skilled, highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our Process Analytical Technology (PAT) group, part of the Global CMC Development organization at Sanofi, Framingham, MA. The PAT group develops, implements, and introduces new in-line, on-line and at-line real time or “near” real time analytical technology to support cell culture and protein purification bioprocesses for a wide variety of molecules and modalities. As a senior scientist, the candidate should have a strong technical background in spectroscopy (Raman, FTIR, NIR, impedance), multivariate (chemometrics) modeling skills and process control for bioprocessing. The candidate should have hand-on-experience and in-depth understanding of PAT concepts and its application to Bioprocess development. This is a cross-functional role that requires interfacing with various functions within Sanofi; you will work well in a team-setting and collaborate with process and automation R&D engineers, Data Science, MSAT, Commercial Operations and Regulatory Affairs.
Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry OR
Related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience OR
Master’s degree with 8 years or a Bachelor’s degree with 10 years
Hands-on experience in Vibrational spectroscopy (e.g. Raman, NIR, MIR, UV); competency in multivariate (chemometrics) analysis (MVA) and modeling of complex spectroscopy data.
High level of proficiency with chemometrics, statistics, data modeling packages such as SIMCA, SIMCA-online, Matlab, Unscrambler, etc. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R, etc.).
Experience with PAT knowledge data management software (e.g. synTQ, SIPAT, CAMO Analytics) systems.
Experience with data driven modeling approaches and implementation of PAT for real-time in situ monitoring and control of key process parameters and quality attributes.
Background in the implementation of PAT for in-line monitoring and Adaptive Process Control (APC) for bioprocess. Experience with model building using multivariate statistical process control (MSPC) for in-line batch process monitoring evolution.
Experience with setting up and executing feedback and feedforward control strategies for biologics (e.g. PID closed loop feed control).
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Knowledge of bioprocess development for manufacturing of biologic therapeutic proteins; prior experience in Biopharma or biotech is preferred.
Familiarity with metabolic engineering ((MFA & EFM) is a plus.
