Associate Scientist -Discovery Functional Profiling Unit (FPU)

To strengthen our Functional Profiling Unit within the Discovery Lead Characterisation group, we are looking for a qualified Scientist with experience in cell biology.

You will be involved in the development of (primary) cell-based assays & the generation of cell-based research tools used for the isolation, screening, characterization and understanding of the function of Nanobody® lead drug candidates for therapeutic applications in the field of Immunology / Immuno-Oncology.

Responsibilities

  • You are working closely with a team of (Senior) Research Associates and are responsible for the development & optimization of a range of cell-based assays for characterization of lead Nanobodies in different disease areas;
  • You keep track of and introduce new developments in relevant techniques and maintain expertise through scientific literature;
  • You are responsible for planning assigned project research activities & follow up of data analysis, result interpretation and presentation of findings to project teams.

Requirements

  • Degree in Biological Sciences: PhD or Master with minimum 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Scientific Background in Immunology;
  • Strong scientific background and practical experience in development and optimization of (primary) cell-based assays (e.g. MLR, cell signalling, proliferation, reporter assays, survival, chemotaxis, ligand inhibition…);
  • Skills in Multi-colour Flow Cytometry;
  • A team oriented attitude;
  • Experience as supervisor is a plus;
  • Excellent communication skills & sense for initiative, creativity & flexibility;
  • Fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Full time employment.
