ABOUT THE JOB

Our Team

Within the Research & Biomarkers department, the Discovery Biology Platform is fostering new discoveries in mRNA technology to bring best-in-class mRNA therapeutics to the patients as well as supporting Sanofi new mRNA vaccines projects through the development pipeline. The Screening Bioassay and Automation team is focused on in vitro cell-based assay with a unique expertise in high-throughput biology and laboratory automation.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop advanced in vitro cell-based assays for characterization of mRNA vaccine bioactivity to support a wide range of preclinical studies
  • Participate in the high-throughput formatting of currently used cell-based assays
  • Perform high-throughput screenings using the team automated robotic platforms to sustain the continuous improvement of Sanofi mRNA platform and support mRNA vaccine projects
  • Bring scientific insight to analyze the results obtained and ensure of timely results reporting
  • Communicate scientific results within the team and transversally to internal forums
  • Write activity reports and standard operating procedures
  • Maintain operational readiness of robotic platforms and be responsible for equipment maintenance
  • Sustain continuous axis of improvement and actively monitor new technological developments in cell-based assay automation

ABOUT YOU

Skills that you have (mandatory)

  • Experience
    • MSc. with 1 or 2 years of professional experience or Bachelor with >5 years of professional experience
  • Soft skills
    • Affinity for teamwork and good team spirit
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and competitive environment
    • High scientific rigor and data integrity standards
    • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Technical skills
    • Cell Biology: cell culture (cell lines & primary cells), cell banking, immunostaining, flow-cytometry
    • Microscopy and high-content screening: hands-on experience with high-content imaging and/or fluorescence microscopy on plate-based format
    • Biochemistry & Biophysics: ELISA, western-blot, absorbance and fluorescent protein characterization assays, fluorescence energy transfer
    • Molecular Biology: Nucleic acid extraction, quantitative RT-PCR
    • Lab automation: hands-on experience with automated laboratory systems (liquid handling robots, sample management systems)
    • Data analysis: analysis of large dataset, data visualization, statistical analysis
  • Education
    • BSc. or MSc. in biology, cell biology or immunology
  • Languages
    • Verbal and written fluency in French and in English

  • Technical skills
    • Programming skills in R or Python
