Job Purpose

  • To provide global medical strategy and scientific advisor support to Global Medical Strategy, Influenza/RSV
  • To support the Influenza/RSV global medical strategy team with the medical/scientific aspects of specific project work based on franchise objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of the influenza/RSV therapeutic areas and associated products, and be an internal point of reference for SP product data
  • Support the creation, configuration, approval and implementation global scientific meetings with international experts (e.g. advisory boards, advocacy boards, masterclasses)
  • In collaboration with the Medical Content Developer, provide guidance regarding brand, promotional and medical items to ensure that all external communication materials are aligned with scientific communication plans, and are medically and scientifically accurate
  • Contribute to brand development through attendance and active participation in brand team meetings and/or related activities
  • Support regional medical teams where appropriate with scientific support
  • Facilitate and support publications in line with the SP medical and brand strategy
  • Contribute to the development of key opinion leaders through supporting them proactively or reactively with scientific and clinical data. Support SP speakers at scientific meetings with speaker briefings
  • Facilitate review of Investigator Study Proposals in line with franchise evidence generation strategy
  • Liaise with the Global Medical Expert and PMSL, to contribute to the development and implementation of  GMS studies in accordance with ICH-GCP guidelines
  • Provide medical/scientific input to clinical development plans, IEGPs, TPPs and TVPs etc. particularly with respect to consolidating the medical access insights from regions and key countries
  • Proactively engage with the field medical team to deploy Scientific Engagement Projects to collect and analyze field insights
  • Support Global Medical Experts with development and review of medical/scientific content for key clinical and regulatory documents e.g. CTDs, PBRERs, study protocols, CSRs, responses to regulatory agencies/NITAGs/HTAs

  • Global Medical Strategy team and Global Medical Experts Influenza/RSV
  • Regional and local medical affairs teams (regional medical experts for influenza)
  • Brand teams/project teams
  • VEM, HEVA, V&A, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, global clinical sciences, PMSLs
  • Medical Effectiveness Department and Field Medical

External

  • Key external experts, primarily HCPs

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with a scientific qualification. PhD, MD, or Masters is preferred
  • Prior influenza and/or vaccines experience is essential
  • Experience (3+ years) in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in medical affairs (global, regional, or local), clinical research, epidemiology, pharmacovigilance, medical writing, or regulatory affairs
  • Ability to have a global approach
  • Competent to critically appraise studies and clinical evidence
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and of regulatory processes
  • Demonstrated ability as a proactive and effective team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience of building strong working relationships internally and externally to achieve results
  • Ability to collaborate and share information to contribute to the planning process and execute the agreed plan in line with objectives
  • Confidence in their communication and interpersonal skills and hold a high standard of literacy and written communication
  • High attention to detail and accuracy as appropriate to the nature of the information they handle in this role
  • An ability to prioritize work effectively; balancing both long and short term requirements
  • Fluent in English; French fluency and other languages an advantage
