Our Team:

This role sits within Sanofi CHC Japan (SSP) Growth hub and reports into the marketing communication lead.

Marketing communication manager will lead end to end media communication in the country, across all areas of the business. S/he will lead the implementation of a global digital/traditional media strategy, support the on-the-job coaching of local teams and work with external partners to ensure developing a strong media communication strategy.

The role of marketing communication manager is to help the country achieve its business and marketing objectives through effective media communications including PR approach, ultimately accelerating growth, and driving local competitive advantage. This role requires digital and traditional media expertise in the following areas:

  • All range of media planning & buying
  • Campaign measurement & performance tracking
  • Data & analytics
  • Creative & content excellence

S/he is responsible for developing the marketing communication plan for the respective brand, driving both of country priorities and category/brand specific priorities. S/he is instrumental in bringing Sanofi's CHC global digital / traditional media roadmap to life in the country. S/he works closely with the Growth Hub Head, Category Heads, CMI Head and Media Head to shape and drive the vision and orchestrate flawless execution.

Main responsibilities:

  • Expand media communications capabilities across all relevant marketing, sales and support functions.
  • Work with country category teams to support the development of brand plans that effectively leverage the full range of consumer insights coming from 1st to 3rd party data, past campaign learnings, and digital/traditional/PR media knowledge to drive maximum sales and brand impact.
  • Work hand-in-hand with country marketing teams to design and execute marketing activities in line with country priorities and global and regional guidelines.
  • Ensure brand marketing activities are impactful, leveraging owned, earned, and paid media channels (brand website, SEM, video, social, programmatic, etc.); orchestrate flawless execution and reporting, supporting brands in their engagement with third party partners.
  • Design and implement a robust consumer data collection, analysis and reporting framework, in line with global guidelines and making full use of global tools, to identify opportunities to optimize media plan & site performance, improve the customer experience, gain valuable customer insights and drive consumers from awareness to purchase.
  • Support the in-country Ecommerce team with a dedicated digital media service and KPIs
  • Become a trusted business partner for categories in the country to develop new business models that fully leverage state-of-the-art media communication capabilities.

About you

Experience:

- Experience in a relevant media communication role in an advertising agency / consulting company / marketing environment, or a mix of these

- Strong communication skills - particularly proven ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences: marketing, media, technology partners and agencies.

- Solid project management experience with a proven track record of success in driving business outcomes in similar environments

- Experience of managing digital/traditional media/PR within B-to-C communications, preferably including e-commerce or direct-to-consumer communications.

- Fluency in data and demonstrated understanding of technology and its impact on business

- Thought leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to transfer knowledge and inspire a growth mindset.

- DSP and Programmatic media buy knowledge, including buying platform such as DV360, social media business manager

- Knowledge of digital search (SEO/SEM) strategy, execution and optimization

- Knowledge of traditional media (TV/Newspaper/Magazines/OOH/Radio/PR promotion) for media planning

- Ability to effectively translate marketing objectives/target audience into media objectives/targeting

- Curiosity and knowledge of new digital technologies (e.g. Generative AI, metaverse) and strong ability to translate this into business impact

- Media planners are likely to have a similar skill set for this role, working in global advertising agencies, consultancies and marketing departments in FMCG companies.

- This is a desk job with no specific physical requirements other than to use standard office equipment such as PC, telephone, email, fax, copy machine, etc.

Education

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university

- Post-bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (e.g., Masters, MBA or equivalent) Preferred


Languages:

-The ideal candidate for this position must be fluent in both English and Japanese, as they will be required to communicate effectively in a business setting in Japan and with regional stakeholders and participate in global business interactions.
