Position Summary :
The Deputy Director, Manufacturing Excellence is accountable for leading and delivering transformational change which will focus on enabling the workforce to achieve improvements. The successful candidate will ensure that continuous improvement principles and methodologies (Sanofi Manufacturing System, Lean, Six Sigma, Autonomous Production Units) are applied consistently and effectively to deliver customer and shareholder value.
The role will be responsible for developing and executing company strategies to step change performance, eliminate waste and drive productivity in cross-functional business processes.
The Deputy Director, Manufacturing Excellence will be responsible for coaching and mentoring others throughout the organization in SMS, lean and continuous improvement methodology and will certify Lean Green Belts to accelerate the organization’s cultural shift to streamline processes at all levels of the business.
This position partners with the company’s global and site leadership and is effective at working at all levels of the organization.
Lead the annual site strategy process for the executive team and cascade priorities to the site manufacturing facilities and shared services.
Establish process to identify, prioritize, resource and execute strategic transformation which drives performance improvement, productivity and waste elimination.
Using a strong knowledge of Lean principles, drive a robust safety, quality and delivery culture throughout the organization.
Instill a continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization with a standardized approach.
Work with business leaders to identify process gaps that will be captured in continuous improvement plans and facilitated by the continuous improvement teams for impactful results.
Facilitate enterprise level SMS kaizen events for processes that have a cross-functional impact to eliminate waste, reduce cycle time and improve business performance while establishing a sustainable model for continuous improvement.
Lead strategic projects and continuous improvement events in alignment with the strategic deployment plan.
Develop new programs that support a lean/SMS operating system based on site priorities and the global best in class ambition.
Support and develop the increase in team talent, capabilities and results.
Mentor and coach teams and the organization in a manner that ensures compliance with standard work as well as motivates improvement strategies.
Builds skills and train the organization for change in culture.
Drive cross functional collaboration and skills in direct support of lean/SMS principles.
Culturally driving discipline to business process, Sanofi LEAD competencies and Standard Operating Practices to instill the right industrial mindset.
Conflict resolution in group dynamics.
Project constraints (time, cost, scope, & quality), conflicting priorities and risk are the key areas that are managed in order to achieve project success.
Key Requirements :
Bachelor of Science, Engineering, Business or Operations. MBA preferred.
Six Sigma Black Belt and/or LEAN certification (Methodology, Deployment, Mapping, Change Management, Project Management).
Minimum 10 years of experience in industry (preference to a background in Pharma / Biologics manufacturing) with a good understanding of overall business operations knowledge and GMP environments.
Minimum 5 years of experience leading complex transformational change to improve business processes.
Experienced in staff management and coaching.
Excellent oral/written communication skills, competent presentation skills and ability to work across all levels of the organization.
Use of technical continuous improvement methodologies and professional expertise (LEAN, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis).
Effective interpersonal, influencing and change management skills.
Exhibit strong scientific and analytical understanding of processes and quality systems.
