Position Overview:

The Genomic Medicine Unit (GMU) CMC group at Sanofi is dedicated to the establishment of best in class manufacturing platforms to support development of life-changing advanced cell and gene therapy products, including recombinant AAV vectors and cell therapy products. This organization encompasses vector and cell line engineering, upstream and downstream process development, analytics, and clinical manufacturing support. 

The cell culture process development group is responsible for viral vector production optimization and development of next generation production platforms to support high dose therapeutic products.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work with his/her supervisor to design, plan and conduct cell culture experiments to investigate how process parameters modulate product quality attributes and process performance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work both individually on cell culture experiments as well as part of the larger cell culture team to support group project work. The candidate will develop a diverse skill set in cell culture development platforms potentially including seed train development, media development, high throughput techniques, benchtop bioreactors, etc. as these skills pertain to process development. The candidate will develop an understanding of cell culture processes and how to use this understanding to address process optimization problems within the context of development, characterization, and scale-up of cell processes for AAV development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a biology, chemical or biochemical engineering, or biotech BS or MS degree program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Logical and critical thinking skills.

  • Innovative problem solving.

  • Some familiarization with sterile technique highly preferred.
